Dumping Syndrome Is No Joke: Tips for Eating Well and Living Better



Whether FM is a helpful or unhelpful diagnosis both for patients and doctors depends on the information given to the patient regarding the nature of the disorder, planned treatment strategy, and expected outcome after the initial diagnosis. All recent guidelines recommend that the diagnostic label FM (or FMS for FM syndrome) should be communicated to patients after the initial diagnosis. This approach is intended to reduce anxiety, which inherently accompanies chronic pain, and to reduce repeated unnecessary diagnostic procedures and inappropriate drug treatments. There is also consensus that patients should be informed of the concept of a biopsychosocial model for FM whereby biological factors (eg, genetic predisposition) and psychosocial factors (eg, stress) contribute to the predisposition, triggering, and perpetuating of FM symptoms.8 The German guidelines suggest that the following information could be useful in the education of patients:6

Finding relief comes with a lot of trial and error. What works for one person might not work for another. Take the time to try different techniques to see how your body responds. If you want to have success after bariatric surgery, one of the best things you can do is get familiar with dumping syndrome and learn ways you can avoid it. You are human and mistakes happen, but try your best to eat clean so you can stay clear of dumping syndrome as much as possible.


"Some people have difficulty metabolizing sugars and carbs. If the patient has a condition, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), then we might recommend the patient adopt a low FODMAP diet," says Dr. Quigley.


Conditions that create excess flatulence do so through various mechanisms. Lactose intolerance and celiac disease cause gas and bloating because the body has problems digesting carbs. Other conditions, such as abdominal adhesions, abdominal hernia and dumping syndrome, cause changes in how gas moves through the intestines. Also, diabetics can develop gastroparesis, which causes abnormal functioning of the stomach, with one of the symptoms being excessive gas. Also, check the list if side effects of both prescription and over-the-counter medications if you have noticed an increase in gas. Some medications, such as ibuprofen and antacids, may cause an increase in flatulence.


Is repetitive behavior unique to autism?No. Repetitive motor behaviors are also seen in other conditions of the developing brain. For example, many girls with Rett syndrome constantly wring or clasp their hands. Repetitive behaviors are also characteristic of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia.


Diphenhydramine may occasionally interact with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants such as sertraline (Zoloft). We found one case report that suggests diphenhydramine affects the neurotransmitter serotonin (Cureus, Apr. 2018). This could lead to a complication called serotonin syndrome.


I quit taking the bupropion and called a friend who offered to drive me to the hospital but on the way I experienced a grand mal seizure. I was diagnosed with serotonin syndrome at the hospital and quit taking all antidepressant meds from that time forward. My PCP decided I was *noncompliant* with her prescription recommendations. She is no longer my PCP.


While venting to friends, family and social media followers can feel helpful, sometimes oversharing your trauma can turn people away. Understanding what trauma dumping is and why you do it can help you maintain relationships and find the help you need.

To be honest, I was pretty proud of the self-deprecating joke until I saw the horrified look on her face. The ultimate sign that you need to ease up on the self-deprecating humor is that you start accepting as reality what you originally intended to be a light-hearted joke. The point of self-deprecation is to make light of your flaws and come to terms with the imperfections of humanity, not validate insecurities.


Archaeology confirms that this was no joke. It was not until the mid-1800s that many households began to practice more discrete trash disposal, such as the use of specially-dug pits located in remote areas of the yard. Before I go on to explain about my similar symptoms, let me tell you that I found a couple of medical articles that, although very rare, one can have dumping syndrome without having had bariatric surgery.


So I can be quite happily going about my business when I suddenly get this strange feeling, I get boiling hot, I start to feel short of breath, sweat, fast heart rate, shaky...all this while I feel my bowels rumbling getting ready to poop. Then I go to the loo, poop, mainly feel like I will drop dead, no joke and then about 30 mins later it's as if nothing has happened. Until it happens again, that is.

  • in bathtub bubble products marketed to children,

  • as a preservative in grocery store fresh produce sections,

  • in the production of beer by all the major beer distributors,

  • in the coffee available at major coffee houses in the US and abroad,

  • in Formula One race cars, although its use is regulated bythe Formula One Racing Commission, and

  • as a target of ongoing NASA planetary and stellar research.

One of the most surprising facts recently revealed about Dihydrogen Monoxidecontaminationis in its use as a food and produce "decontaminant." Studies have shownthat even after careful washing, food and produce that has been contaminatedby DHMO remains tainted by DHMO.What is the link between Dihydrogen Monoxide and gun violence?The incidence of gun violence seems to be rising at an alarming rate.A recent stunning revelation is that in every singleinstance of violence involving guns, both in the U.S. and internationally,Dihydrogen Monoxide was involved. They argue that efforts to banDHMO are misguided.Friends of Hydrogen Hydroxide is supported by theScorched Earth Party, a radical and loosely-organizedCalifornia-based group. Sources close to the ScorchedEarth Party deny any outside funding from government,industry or pro-industry PACs.Has the press ignored this web site andthe Dihydrogen Monoxide problem?For the most part, the press has not reported on the dangersof Dihydrogen Monoxide as much as some would like. Althoughmany private individuals have put up web sites in a majorgrassroots effort to spread the word, major publicationshave not.Recently, attention has been paid to the subject thanks to an incident in Aliso Viejo, California. This so-called Aliso Viejo Incident was widely reported in the media, although the director of DHMO.org, Dr. Tom Way, was called a "prankster." Once the Associated Press started circulating the story, it became fact, and the valuable information being provided by the DHMO.org website was deemed to be "rubbish" rather than an honest and unbiased recounting of facts about a dangerous, life-endangering chemical compound. 2ff7e9595c
